Cultural Heritage of Madhya Pradesh: from the Earliest Times to C.14th Century A

There are few States in India which can lam so rich and varied remains of glorious past as does the territory now comprising Madhya Pradesh. There is no dearth of archaeological, literary and traditional data pertaining to the tangible and intangible heritage of M.P. which have survived through all the vicissitudes of destruction and decay through ages. Unfortunately, no scientifically written companion volume based on original sources reflecting various aspects of the cultural heritage of this part of the country, with particular reference to its original contribution to the country as a whole, is yet published. Such a publication is of utmost necessity to provide a vision to all concerned who are actively or passively associated with the conservation and preservation of cultural heritage of the State apart from research scholars, students and common readers. The purpose of this volume is to fill in this gap. This book is aimed to cover cultural heritage of the State from the earliest times to c. 14th century A.D. as this is the period when experiments in all aspects of culture were undertaken in this part of the country, some of which were imitated by the rest of contemporary India.
